It’s been four days since I received my mission from Amari, an elite warrior from the palace of wolves. I have to find out what happened to the Vampire Kingdom more than two decades ago during the first war of Gods and Demons. In particular, they want me to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of Chaos, the Vampire King, during this period.
I took a deep breath. This mission was so unexpected that I had no time to prepare. It was no secret that the Royal Wolves and the Royal Vampires have been at odds since the war.
Why of all the talented and elite warriors available, why does it have to be me?
I looked around. I am now living in the palace of Vampires. I am dressed in this silk gown that I wouldn’t even dare to touch in the past. I am wearing jewelry that can feed an entire household for a month. On the surface, I was living a lavish life. I was surrounded by luxurious things that most females, immortal or not, would dream of.
But in reality, I was detained. I couldn’t move freely. I could not leave this place even if I wanted to. I already tried it, and I failed.
I couldn’t help but reminisce about all the past events that led me to my current state. It was like a roller coaster ride and no one had warned me that these events would eventually turn my life upside down.
I am Aroa, previously an Omega from the Dark Blood Pack, now a rogue. I was sentenced to be exiled in the tower of eternal sorrows after being framed for a crime I did not commit. I was charged with poisoning Ruse, my former best friend, with wolfsbane. She used to be an Omega just like me, but because of an incident in the past, the pack was led to believe that she was the missing princess of wolves.
I expected Alaric, the future Alpha of the pack to listen to me. To believe in me. For we promised to love and trust each other. I was beaten, tortured and disfigured. I never gave in. I was hoping that my love would save me.
How could I be so foolish?
**
Few months ago…
I was moaning in pain when I heard someone entering my cell. I tried to open my eyes, but they were so bruised that barely opening them caused me terrible pain.
“Aroa,” I heard the voice I desperately crave.
I cried, silently. Why is he so late? I tried to speak, but my voice box had already been crushed from strangulation. I could no longer speak.
“Father ordered the search of your room.” he started. “They found wolfsbane in your drawers.”
I tried to understand what he's saying.
“Those are enough to incriminate you.”
What is he talking about? Isn’t he here to save me?
“I am sorry Aroa, but they decided to kill your wolf demon.”
Kill my wolf demon…
“If I don’t obey, they will kill you instead.”
Why would you want to kill my wolf demon?
I’m innocent.
Alaric?
Didn’t you believe me?
Then I remembered all the times I asked him to believe me. I was innocent, but he didn’t believe me.
He never did.
Suddenly, I felt a knife piercing my chest. It was so painful I felt like dying.
He was killing my wolf. The man who promised to love and protect me was killing my wolf. I also heard someone sobbing. It might be me or Alaric. It didn’t matter.
“I promise you, Aroa,” he said. “I will save you. Just bear it until I receive my title. I promise you.”

Instead of helping me, Alaric tried to kill my wolf demon, an integral part of any werewolf. This is the source of our abilities, the one that sets us apart from mortals. This is where our strength and sharp senses originate. It is what makes us wolves. It is what makes me… me. If we lost it, we would be like an empty shell, with no soul. And Alaric tried to kill mine.
I still feel the pain as he stabbed me in the chest, as he slowly killed my wolf demon while promising to save me in the future. I wanted to cry, but my voice box was thoroughly damaged. I couldn’t even whisper if I wanted to. So as my love betrayed me, I cried silently in agony.
Not long after that, I was sentenced to be exiled in the tower of eternal sorrows, a place where notorious demon criminals are imprisoned. Instead of physical pain, prisoners are punished with feelings of desperation, frustration and hopelessness inside the tower.
In order to reach the tower, one has to cross a long narrow bridge. Under this bridge is the river of hellfire, a kind of fire that can burn any immortal to ashes with no chance of reincarnation.
After hearing my sentence, a plan was formed inside my head. I did not intend to suffer inside the tower. Instead, I was resolute in ending my miserable and pitiful life.
So, the day we reached the bridge, I jumped into the river, hoping that it would kill not only me but also my sorrows.
I hadn’t hoped to survive the fall, but I was not expecting the things that happened after.
**
That day…
I thought my voice box was thoroughly damaged.
How wrong was I.
For I was now screaming from excruciating pain as the hellfire enveloped my body.
The pain of my broken heart was nothing compared to this.
I almost regretted jumping to the river.
Almost.
But as I remembered Alaric’s devastated face as I fell, it was all worth it.
Eventually, all the pain was gone. It was replaced by the feeling of relief and contentment.
I accepted that this was my fate and this was the way I was gonna die.
Finally, I can rest.
I thought the fire would kill me, that it would finally put my exhausted soul to eternal sleep.
Again, I was wrong.
As my pale skin dissolved, it turned golden brown. My blond hair burned into ashes and was replaced by a long-red one. My eyes became black and my weak omega body was filled with abnormal strength and power.
I had no idea what was happening at first, but as these changes continued, I realized what was going on.
I was being reborn.

Later on, I found myself in a nearby land. Three deities were hovering over me. They introduced themselves as the Three Fates. They were the one responsible for the cycle of life. Even others say that they might be more powerful than Zeus, the current ruler of Heaven realm.
So why did these three powerful gods decide to save an unworthy omega like me?
They told me a secret that shook my world.
I am Selena’s daughter, the princess of wolves.
After that revelation, I was determined to redeem myself and to recover my stolen birthright. I had enough self-pitying. Now that I had a second chance to live, I decided to travel to the demon realm to find my birth mother, the queen of wolves.
I wanted to ask her the questions I longed to ask my parents.
Was I abandoned?
Why did they let me be an omega? A slave?
Didn’t they want me?
I began my journey and disguised myself as a male wolf using a spell as a precaution. I had to pretend as a man as it was very dangerous for a female demon to travel alone. Also, my unique appearance would definitely attract trouble.
After the fall, I had undergone a huge transformation. Aside from my new red hair and golden-brown skin, I also looked more matured. I must have aged by a few years. Nevertheless, I looked more beautiful.
During my travels, I met Gideon, a crazy old wolf who seemed to have no care in the world. He helped me reach the Royal Palace of Wolves in one piece. It turned out though, that he was my uncle, the Royal Duke of Wolves. We were both there to look for Queen Selena, who was not in the palace when we arrived as she was looking for the cure to her lost memories.
In order for prove my birthright, I had to retrieve the mirror of no lies, which was in the possession of the Queen of the Underworld, Persephone. I successfully recovered the mirror with the help of two elite warriors, Veltra and Amari. But due to jealousy, Veltra decided to betray me and left me unconscious and bleeding in the forest of trolls.
That was why I am now here in the Palace of Vampires.
Chaos, the Vampire King found me wounded in the forest while he was hunting together with his warriors. For some reason though, he was claiming to be my mate.
I wouldn’t deny the fatal attraction I felt the first time I saw him. But if the Three Fates were telling the truth, he could not be my mate. For if I am Selena’s daughter, then my mate is supposed to be the demon of destiny, a demon born only on the first blood moon. It’s what was written in the prophecy …
The first night when the moon bled,
the demon of destiny came to life
Five suns will pass, the long battle will end
and the descendant of the moon will take her first breath
The second time the moon will be painted red.
These two lovers will unite.
They will rule with greatness, it will be known, far and wide,
That peace will follow wherever they are
It will know no bounds,
that beings from all realms will bow.
Despite his youthful appearance, Chaos has been in existence longer than most demons. He could not be my mate. I hate it to admit but it is much more possible for Alaric to be the destined demon. After all, Alaric was born twenty-one suns ago, on the day the blood moon occurred.
